The University of Groningen is a research university with a global outlook, deeply rooted in Groningen, City of Talent. Quality has had top priority for four hundred years, and with success: the University is currently in or around the top 100 on several influential ranking lists.

The Centre for Religion and Heritage was established to promote scholarly exchange, train future professionals, advise external stakeholders and engage in public outreach work in this topical and highly contested field. Its projects and events provide a resource for scholars and students, heritage organizations and government, as well as anyone interested in the connection between religion and heritage. Building on a long-term engagement with Christian heritage, the Centre draws on the research strengths of affiliated staff in ancient, Islamic, Jewish and Buddhist religious history as well as in theoretical investigations of the secularism and the post-secular.

KADOC. Documentation and Research Centre on Religion, Culture and Society
Belgium

kuleuven-kadoc-rgb-logo.png

KADOC is the Interfaculty Documentation and Research Centre on Religion, Culture and Society at KU Leuven. Established in 1976, KADOC is not only one of the leading cultural heritage institutions in Belgium, but also an international centre for the study of the interaction between religion, culture and society in the 19th and 20th centuries. It preserves and discloses an impressive collection of archives, data, and heritage that has emerged from the interplay between religion, culture and society in a Belgian, European, and global context.

These KADOC collections have an important European and even global dimension: they document interactions between Europe and the Americas, Asia and Africa that were intermediated by missionaries, political movements, churches, NGOs and migrants, and have shaped the world we live in. Political and social developments such as the development of civil society, the welfare state, democratization, European integration, and secularisation are documented in the collections of political movements and politicians with a European/international profile, trade unions, NGOs, and religious congregations.

KADOC stimulates international research in its collections by organizing international conferences, launching networks with European universities and partner institutions, publishing innovative studies, and hosting junior and senior researchers from across the world.

KADOC has ca. 50 staff members, working on research projects, heritage conservation, outreach and communication and the sharing of expertise with students, researchers and organizations alike. In working together with these partners on a varied scope of topics, the KADOC staff has collected expertise on a multitude of fields, some of which are inclusive heritage, religious minority heritage and innovative methodologies to experience heritage and history today.

Process Oriented Psychology focuses on developing a state of consciousness; i.e. helping individuals and groups to create awareness on how they perceive and live their experiences, and gives them tools to learn to change their approach. Theatre of the Oppressed Theatre (TO) puts theatre at the service of education. We conduct workshops for various groups, training for trainers and artistic actions at a local and international level. We are a multi-disciplinary and multicultural group of collaborators, trained in the field of social sciences, pedagogy and arts. The diversity within our team enriches our social and creative work, and that keeps us in permanent training and learning.

Logo-Moslim-archief-zwarte tekst.png

The Muslim Archive strives for a broader and better picture of the history and present of Dutch Muslims and an enrichment of the collective memory of the Netherlands. This will make Dutch Muslims feel more seen, valued and acknowledged with all their identities. Dutch people, regardless of their background, become more aware of the (centuries-old) pluralism of Dutch society and its added value. Our contributions are aimed at making the cultural and religious heritage of Dutch Muslims a natural part of the Netherlands. In doing so, we promote a shared sense of home and a shared future that is inclusive and resilient.
